Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between this and the Rhingo Karate Chest Guard?: The Rhingo Taekwondo Reversible String Chest Guard uses a string closure system and is specifically designed for the blue/red color scheme required in WT-style taekwondo competition, where competitors are distinguished by color. The Rhingo Karate Chest Guard uses a different closure system and red/black coloring more appropriate for karate kumite sparring.
Is this guard suitable for WT competition?: The Rhingo Reversible String Chest Guard is designed for training and school-level competition. For official WT-sanctioned events with electronic scoring, check your tournament's specific approved equipment list. The reversible blue/red design covers the standard competition coloring requirements for most school and regional events.
How does the string closure work?: The string closure wraps around the torso and ties at the sides or back. The string system is preferred in taekwondo competition because it holds the guard more securely than velcro during dynamic kicking exchanges and allows the reversible design to flip cleanly without any hardware catching on the uniform.
Why does this listing include 2 chest guards?: The bundle of 2 is ideal for schools, families with multiple training children, or students who want one in each color configuration for quick competition use. With 2 guards, one can be in use while the other is cleaned and stored between sessions.
